Robert Mechielsen, Studio RMA’s founder, is native to Holland and is an expert in SCIP building technology. He has over 35 years of experience both in Europe and the USA, which allows him to continuously bring new practices, insights and cost savings to the nascent American market. 

Robert's innate understanding of the large inherent thermal mass created by the structural design for SCIP, and how this thermal mass can be used simultaneously to create substantial energy efficiency. This knowledge bridges structural and mechanical engineering disciplines and is useful in both residential and commercial SCIP projects.

Studio RMA provides designs and construction drawings for high-end luxury residences  built using SCIP technology throughout the world.

His construction expertise in using SCIP for as high as 7-story apartment buildings, in a cost comparison to engineered wood construction, has captured the attention of the US construction industry. Because SCIP is not limited by the structural restrictions of timber construction, large expansive balconies, roof top gardens, and penthouse pools are easy to build in concrete. In many cities, these green add-ons qualify for tax-credits or an allowable higher density in building.
